RHIANNON LEIFHEIT
I live in Atlanta, Georgia and blog (http://www.liebemarlene.blogspot.com) and sell vintage clothing on Ebay for a living, so I’m in thrift stores all the time and only really dress up on weekends. Otherwise it’s always ’90s dresses and brown leather fringed loafers.

I’m wearing a navy blue 1950s dirndl sun dress with a tiny little floral dot print. I haven’t really been into ’50s things lately but this dress is simple and looks more casual without a blouse underneath so I like it. It has a really fitted waist and full skirt and little silver metal buttons that go all the way to the neck, and I usually button things all the way to the top. I have on brown leather SWEDISH HASBEEN sandals to make the outfit look more ’70s than ’50s, and I’m carrying a navy and white striped canvas tote bag from H&M. I have pale blue nails and a big (fake!) turquoise costume ring on my finger, and when I go outside I’ll put on my tortoise cat eye sunglasses from KAREN WALKER even though they always give me sunglasses crease on the nose.

Saturday, June 5th at noon: I’m about to take a day trip to Milledgeville, Georgia to see where Flannery O’Connor lived.

I am wearing a pair of much loved KTZ track pants, from autumn 07/08 (is that retro yet?), I think. I inherited these from a friend in Berlin and they function as both my most comfortable pair of pants (soft, warm, balloony) and one of my most expressive. They’re bright turquoise with a dorky pattern that combines chunky 80s bus seat material graphics with a cute sporty KTZ logo, in green, blue, purple, black and yellow. They are hemmed and waisted with big bands of black ribbing, and have low pockets detailed with a similar strip in black that swoops round the bum as well.

On the top I have two t-shirts and a jumper on, cause it’s cold. The first t-shirt is an 80’s ADIDAS t-shirt I was given by my friends in London who I helped cutting garments for their recycled clothing collection. It is a light mottled grey with flowery, multi coloured satin panels on the sleeves. There is also a small flower shaped patch of the same material on the left breast with ‘Universal Spirit’ in cursive script embroidered over it. The second t-shirt is a black DIAMOND t-shirt (a skateboarding distribution company from the states) my gf and I found at a market in Melbourne. It has a large line based graphic in blue on the front, of a diamond with arabic writing underneath. I’m assuming that says diamond, but I don’t know arabic yet. I also tie-bleached the shirt myself a few weeks ago in a lightning pattern that goes from beige through purple/aubergine to black. The jumper is a turquoise crew neck with a screenprinted graphic of three geese wearing pink bow ties, that was bestowed upon me by my doppelganger/older brother figure in Berlin.

On my feet are white cotton socks I bought in Poland, and round my neck I have a Pounamu (jade) necklace given to me by my mother for my 21st birthday. The shape is known as a Toki, symbolising strength, determination and creativity.
My nails have been painted bright orange with a layer of iridescent flake, although it has almost all chipped off now.

Worn at 10:45 am, 3/12/2009 at my Mum’s house.
