What I’m wearing today primarily revolves around my latest and possibly absolute favorite vintage find of all time, an eBay begotten 1920s by way of the late 60s Bonnie and Clyde revival caramel colored intarsia knit sweater vest, covered in an endless parade of tiny chocolate brown and burnt orange Jazz Age touring cars, which is currently the crown jewel of my 100+ strong novelty sweater vest library.
With that I’m wearing one of many white button-down collar oxfords, an absolutely indispensable everyday essential which I used to buy by the boxful (see also, bow ties) from a tiny stacked to the rafters dusty vintage school uniform shop in my old neighborhood in Brooklyn, my very first pair of A.P.C jeans (I’m giving this semi-casual thing a test run, but not entirely sure it’s going to stick) barely broken in and ever-so-slightly cuffed, and a vintage mustard, rust and nutmeg brown plaid wool early 70s medieval revivlal duffle coat complete with wood, leather and brass coat of arms toggles.
I’m also wearing a pair of caramel colored super soft saddle leather-ish vintage brogues, made in Brazil, over a pair of semi-sheer muddy yellow ankle socks knit with tiny mustard colored rosettes from Japan, and a vintage brown leather Baader Meinhof era document bag from Germany, also eBay begotten, filled to the brim with all of my favorite BECI ORPIN coinpurses serving as wallets, passport cases and catch-alls for lip balms, loose change, hair bobbles and various other ephemeral odds and ends, a cute day planner from Japan, and a Scout Book for note-taking.
My main accessories for the day are my signature as-of-late spectacularly unruly mane of Manson girl hair with bangs hacked out by hand, bobby-pinned somewhat into place, my favorite wooden TATTY DEVINE google eyed cat and PRINCESS TINA mushroom brooches, a few dabs of lemon oil from one of my designers cute witchy desktop aromatherapy library, and a to-go cup of Dutch Brothers coffee, which, as noted by a passerby, bears a super cute graphic of yellow, orange and navy tulips and windmills that just so happens to match the colors of my outfit exaaactly.
As worn on the first bordering-on-coldish morning of the latter days of August (which always comes as such a relief as my closet is perennially stocked with tweeds and knits and woolens, making me notoriously terrible at dressing for warm weather) for a quick stroll around our mini industrial design district, enjoying the final days of latest contract as Creative Director for a cute new paper goods brand via a local design agency and sourcing giant Plexiglas mushrooms for a Snow White themed photoshoot.
