Back in february, the days were short, the weather chilling and the sky had the shade of a black black bird not brushed by the sun since several months. That was the very first morning of a week of excitement, emotions and beauty: this morning was the beginning of mens fashion week Fall 2011 in Paris.

The first show I attended this season was based in a garage in the hip and arty neighbourhood Le Marais, and was given by a Japanese designer. I love fashion, but I love it even better when it is thought after and not in the immediate consumption: my passion for modern architecture, which I had the time to enhance during these long winter days, lead me to like structured garments, making a long a thin looking silouhette.

I chose a top both architectural and blurry by KAI AAKMANN. It was a black cape, in cotton and wool. They say that Parisians love black. I must say this is one of the few sayings that is still true. I put on black slim jeans by MARC JACOBS – don’t get me wrong, the brand did not made me buy those trousers. It was rather that specific look the cotton had – unusually tightened. As much as I love new designers, much more daring than the established Parisian houses, I enjoy having some timeless – and yet modern looking – pieces. I decided to accessorise the clothes with a black and silver HERMES Kelly bracelet. Eventually, let’s be honest and practical: Big bags are too large to be carried at shows, however I had to carry many show tickets for that day. I chose an YVES SAINT LAURENT  black pouch from Fall 2010. However I carried it by the top… Not by the wrist strap, that I hid into the bag. Boots, black boots, then I was ready to go.

As I arrived to the garage for the show, the wind was blowing, and I loved that feeling the KAI AAKMANN jacket gave me, that of a perfect unity between the concrete, harsh environment that was the courtyard in front of the garage, the wind and the urban landscape.

Paris, February 2010.

I make a zine in my bedroom called BFR. It’s all hand drawn and then photocopied in the school library. Most of my time is spent on London public transport, getting home from lame house parties in zone 6 or just rifling around.

I am wearing low NIKE dunks that I got when I was 12 years old, they are very pink and grubby having served me six years of physical education and some little socks that I took from my Mum’s draw this morning. I’m also wearing some greenish coloured drainpipes back from when I used to think nu rave was like the best thing everrr. Oddly clothes from when I was 13 still fit me. Then I’m wearing a standard AMERICAN APPAREL tri-blend male tank with a blue, red and green UNIQLO (again from the mens section) tartan shirt on top. Over that I’ve stolen my Dad’s MARKS & SPENCER cardigan, its super big and soft and navy. My mum bought it for him when we were at the seaside because he was cold, but he didn’t like the plastic buttons, so she has sewn on some rather dashing cork ones as a replacement. Unfortunately the moths are getting to it. My hair is an utter state as usual, but it’s down today because I went to a ball last night and pretty much rolled out of bed and into the library (for revision) and I couldn’t be bothered to sort it out because it’s rainy today. On my face, I have both my lobes pierced which are adorned with VIVIENNE WESTWOOD orb earrings and I have my cartilage pierced on the top of my right ear which has a ring in it. Because I am rather blind, I am wearing orange glasses and shit loads of eyeliner. I also have by MARC by MARC JACOBS school bag with me, it is oil cloth and has lots of funny drawings on it like a banana eating itself and a huge zip and a MARC JACOBS bone bangle (on my left wrist) and a TIMEX watch (on my right wrist).

Today I’m wearing one of my favourite, comfortable outfits. An oversized denim shirt with sleeves rolled up to my shoulders which I got from a Charity Shop for 50p. I’ve combined this with a black, crushed velvet, high waisted skirt from TOPSHOP that I practically live in. Paired with accessories I am barely ever seen without, black leather, vintage moccasins, quilted leather bag with a chain strap and my trusty leather jacket. I’ve completed the look with Coral nail varnish, a slick of Russian Red MAC lipstick and Daisy fragrance by MARC JACOBS.

Friday April 9th, England. I wore this for a day of running errands, amusing small children and writing articles.

My favorite black DARYL K dress. It has silver buttons running up sides of legs, around arm holes and then back down. You can unsnap as many as you want up the leg and under the arm. Black, loose fitting 3/4 length sleeved shrug from TEMPERLEY LONDON as a layering piece.
SHELLY STEFFEE amazing red, metallic leg skimmers. I love them since they’re footed. White SHELLY STEFFEE reversible scarf. Black suede DKNY sporty toe heals. TROVATA, wool toggle coat. Black Marc by MARC JACOBS leather bag. Pefume by ANNICK GOUTAL Paris. Crystal and gunmetal rings by NOIR Jewelry.

I looked like this from the top down: brown lambswool cardigan with elbow patches from FILIPPA K, which I just bought while out Christmas shopping, blue polo shirt with white pin stripes from H&M years ago, which has a discolouring on the back of the neck from hair bleach, vintage brown velvet skirt, which I just hemmed shorter this weekend because the length of it put me off it for a few years (there is a badge on this skirt, it is Johnny Cash giving you the finger, you know which one), grey wool tights that my mother sent me last year for Christmas when I was in China by myself and freezing, because there was no heat in my appartment. I also wore black JUSTIN Lace-R boots all day at work, a black Marc by MARC JACOBS wool coat to keep me from freezing to death on my bike ride there and back with a black wool scarf. I smelled like Flora by GUCCI.

This was December 9th, 2009.
